Jumeirah Sceirah Installation at Wild Wadi - Joinery

In 2012, Hennessey L.L.C was involved in the installation and joinery works of Wild Wadi’s new Jumeirah Sceirah Ride; the tallest free-falling water slide outside of North America.

It began with the removal of the existing water slide; this was done with a 500 ton crane over two nights. We created a large steal platform to extend the tower outwards in order to make more room for the new ride. This was then clad in Hennessey’s themed joinery. After which, Jumeriah Group installed two tandem trap-door slides.

Distressed teak hand railing, rope hand rails and old timber cladding were all manufactured in Hennessey’s Joinery Factory in Al Quoz. These were installed on the ride and in numerous locations around the park. The handrails and timber were sandblasted in order to create a rough finish that was in keeping with the park’s ancient Arabian aesthetic.

The biggest challenge of this project was access to the work site. Due to the daily operating times at Wild Wadi, all major works were carried out at night. All materials and equipment also had to be lifted 32 meters to the ride platform. The park was not shut down while this project continued. Hennessey successfully completed the project with no disruption to the normal working routine of Wild Wadi staff and their customers.
